Riga International Airport is not only Latvia’s largest airport but also a key air traffic hub for the entire Baltic region and Northern Europe. As passenger volumes continue to grow, so does the need for streamlined, user-friendly infrastructure—starting with parking.
Recognizing the impact of efficient parking on the overall travel experience, Riga Airport partnered with BISS to implement a cutting-edge parking guidance system in its P3 long-term parking zone. This project builds on a trusted partnership that began in 2010.
In 2024, BISS deployed a camera-based parking guidance solution powered by real-time free space recognition technology. The system leverages the airport’s existing CCTV network to detect occupancy across more than 2,000 spaces and guide drivers directly to available areas.
To enhance user experience, navigational displays were installed at entry points, showing available rows and reducing search time. The solution enables faster parking, reduces congestion, and aligns with RIX’s smart airport vision.
