Digital Transformation at Valmiera Olympic Centre

Digital Transformation at Valmiera Olympic Centre

Valmiera Olympic Centre is one of the key sports and wellness destinations in the Vidzeme region, serving athletes, schools, families, training groups, and everyday visitors. In a facility where different services, access points, and visitor flows come together, daily operations need to be simple, connected, and easy to manage.

To support this, Valmiera Olympic Centre partnered with BISS to implement a unified system for service sales, customer management, access control, and locker operation. The goal was to replace fragmented tools and manual processes with one digital platform that improves the visitor experience while giving the centre better control over its operations.

This transformation brought several previously separate processes into one connected environment. Visitors can now use electronic wristbands for access, services, and lockers, while staff manage daily operations through a centralized system with greater visibility, efficiency, and data accuracy.

Project Overview

In the first quarter of 2026, BISS implemented a unified FidPark solution at Valmiera Olympic Centre. The project included software installation, integration with Visma Horizon accounting software, 2 fiscal cashier workstations, 3 turnstiles, 7 doors equipped with RFID readers, 4 information terminals, 309 lockers, and wristbands with electronic identifiers.

The solution was designed to support the full visitor journey. Customers can use their wristbands to access services, move through the facility, and open or close lockers. Information terminals allow visitors to check their remaining service or training time, making the experience clearer and easier to navigate.

For the centre, the FidPark web application provides one place to manage customers, passes, services, products, training sessions, and gift cards. Several tasks that were previously handled manually are now automated, while historical and operational data are available in one system. This gives the centre better visibility across customer flow, service usage, and product groups.

A key addition to the project was the implementation of real-time group workout management. The system allows the centre to create training groups, assign trainers, define locations, and manage schedules within a structured calendar, while visitors can purchase single sessions or subscriptions based on available training plans.

The solution also supports more complex visitor movement scenarios within the facility, ensuring that services can be started, used across different zones, and completed without restrictions during group workouts. This provides a seamless experience for visitors while maintaining full control over access and service usage.

Another important part of the project was the integration with Visma Horizon. This was the first BISS project with such integration, making it an important milestone for future developments. It created a direct link between daily service operations and accounting processes, improved data flow, and reduced duplicate manual work.

The system was also adapted to the centre’s service and access logic, supporting different access scenarios across the facility. In addition, accessibility mode allows visitors with special needs or parents with small children to use a dedicated gate turnstile, helping create a more inclusive and accessible environment.
